Japanese officials are in the final stage of setting the agenda for the Group of Seven summit in Hiroshima, which will start in 10 days. Prime Minister Kishida Fumio will host the summit. He told reporters on Monday he wants to use the meeting as an opportunity to reaffirm the group's unwavering solidarity with Ukraine. He also said the leaders will discuss challenges in the Indo-Pacific, including East Asia. Kishida said until the last minute he will be fine-tuning what message the G7 leaders should send to the world. Japanese officials plan to set Ukraine, China, North Korea, and nuclear disarmament at the top of the agenda. They are also considering themes such as the global economy and finance after the coronavirus pandemic, climate change, and digitalization including Artificial Intelligence. Establishing rules on the use of AI technology is an emerging challenge. The Foreign Ministry announced programs for the leaders' spouses. They include a visit to the island of Miyajima, near Hiroshima City. It is home to Itsukushima Shrine, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another program will offer a chance to taste okonomiyaki, an example of local cuisine.
