The national security advisors of Japan, the United States, and South Korea have agreed to further promote trilateral security cooperation.
                
Akiba Takeo, secretary general of Japan&#039;s National Security Secretariat, met with US counterpart Jake Sullivan and South Korea&#039;s Cho Tae-yong in Seoul on Saturday. They held a joint news conference after their meeting.
                
Cho spoke highly of a new sanction on North Korea jointly introduced by the three countries plus Australia. The measure came in response to the North&#039;s launch of a military spy satellite last month. Cho added that he and his counterparts agreed to strengthen cooperation with the international community.
                
They also reaffirmed their countries&#039; obligation to denuclearize Pyongyang and ban its military cooperation with other countries based on UN Security Council resolutions amid apparent concerns about its ties with Russia.
                
Cho said they also agreed to swiftly share information on Pyongyang&#039;s missile launches.
                
Pyongyang&#039;s cyberattacks were also discussed at the meeting. Akiba told reporters they agreed to boost trilateral cooperation to stem illicit cyber activities so that North Korea will not use the proceeds to fund missile and nuclear programs.
