NHK&#039;s latest poll suggests public approval for Japan&#039;s Cabinet has fallen to 33 percent. That&#039;s the lowest since Prime Minister Kishida Fumio took office in October last year.
                
More than 1,200 people responded to the survey conducted from Friday through Sunday.
                
It showed the Cabinet&#039;s approval rate was on the decline for the fourth straight month. It fell by 5 points since last month.
                
The disapproval rate rose by 3 points to 46 percent.
                
Pollsters asked about Kishida&#039;s response to problems involving a controversial religious group formerly known as the Unification Church. More than 60 percent said they don&#039;t approve.
                
The survey also asked about legislation related to the issue. One bill would regulate malicious solicitations of donations. Revisions to existing law would combat dubious practices known as spiritual sales.
                
Among respondents, 55 percent said the Diet should pass new legislation during the current session.
                
The government&#039;s economic package aims to tame the impact of rising consumer prices.
                
It includes a plan to reduce household electricity bills by about 20 percent. Over 60 percent of people surveyed said they appreciate the plan.
