Seventeen Thai nationals are among the hostages released by Hamas since a four-day ceasefire between the Islamic group and Israel went into effect on Friday. They have been in touch with their families by phone. The Thai government says the freed hostages were taken to hospitals in Israel for health checks. Nutthawaree Munkan is one of them. On Sunday, she had a video call with her mother for the first time since she was kidnapped. In the call, Nutthawaree told her mother: "I miss you. I'll come home and see you soon." Her mother said she was worried Nutthawaree would be tortured and told her, "Just you getting home alive is enough." Thailand is a major source of foreign workers in Israel. Some 5,000 of the country's nationals are said to have been working near the Gaza Strip. The Thai government has confirmed 39 Thais died as a result of the surprise attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7. It says 15 others are still being held by the group. The government says it's in talks with Israel to get the released hostages home as soon as possible.
