China has sent three astronauts to its space station to replace the current crew. The Shenzhou-17 blasted off from northwestern China. It docked with the Tiangong space station. The new crew are scheduled to stay at the station for about six months and do experiments. They are also expected to do maintenance outside for the first time. China completed the space station last year. It plans to launch two crewed spacecraft per year. The Chinese space agency has invited astronauts from other countries to take part in the missions. Observers say China's goal is to surpass the United States in space development.
