Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for air defense systems capable of intercepting Russia's new ballistic missile. Zelenskyy made the request on Sunday following Russia's attack with a missile known as the Oreshnik on Thursday. Ukraine's security authorities showed media outlets what they say are fragments of the missile. Zelenskyy said, "Experts are currently analyzing the evidence and working with our partners to establish all the details and specifications of this missile, and to find a response together to this latest Russian escalation." He added, "The world has air defense systems capable of countering such threats." Meanwhile, former commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi expressed his views about the current situation in an interview with a local media outlet, which was carried on Saturday. He said it is unlikely for Russian forces to advance 150 to 200 kilometers in a week. He said that's because new weapons such as drones are preventing movements of soldiers on the battlefield. Zaluzhnyi also pointed out last week that the Third World War has begun this year. He cited the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia, as well as the use of North Korean and Iranian weapons to attack Ukraine. In Ukraine, Russian forces attacked energy infrastructure in the southern region of Mykolaiv through Monday, and have continued assaults in Zaporizhzhia with drones.
