US, Russia to hold talks on Sunday on ceasefire in Ukraine NHK

A US presidential envoy says ceasefire talks will continue on Sunday in Saudi Arabia as Russia and Ukraine continue attacking each other.

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff revealed the planned meeting during an interview with FOX News.

He said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz will take part, but did not indicate who they would be holding talks with.

Russia's presidential office says Russian President Vladimir Putin talked with Trump over the phone on Tuesday and agreed to pause attacks on energy facilities for 30 days.

But the Kremlin says Putin did not accept a full 30-day ceasefire agreed upon between the United States and Ukraine.

Ukraine's air force says it had confirmed six Russian missiles and 145 drones across the country by Wednesday morning.

Russia's defense ministry says it intercepted 57 Ukrainian drones by Wednesday morning in the country's west and elsewhere.

Authorities in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar say drone debris fell on an oil depot, sparking a fire.
