Russia launches large-scale airstrikes in Kherson, southern Ukraine NHK

The Russian military has conducted large-scale airstrikes in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson.

Ukrainian Internal Affairs Minister Ihor Klymenko said Russian forces on Sunday launched 87 glide bombs in Kherson.

US think tank, the Institute for the Study of War, called it "the largest series of glide bomb strikes to date against sites in Kherson Oblast."

The institute also said "The Russian military appears to have increased its stock of high-precision missiles due to reported increases in Russian missile production more rapidly than previous forecasts had suggested."

Observers say this indicates that the country intends to step up airstrikes in the upcoming winter months.

Meanwhile, Russia's defense ministry said on Tuesday that Ukraine launched drone attacks in the Black Sea and Crimea in southern Ukraine. It said Russia shot down a total of 17 drones.

The Ukrainian military also said it conducted missile attacks on the Zalyv Shipyard in Crimea, where Russian warships are being built, on Saturday. Russia officials said one vessel was damaged.
