US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he and his Group of 7 counterparts are working to "disrupt" the transfer of weapons to Russia. He accused China of "fueling the biggest threat" to European security since the end of the Cold War. Blinken made the remarks in a news conference on Friday in Capri, Italy, as he and his colleagues wrapped up the G7 foreign ministers' meeting. Blinken said China is the "primary contributor" to developing Russia's military and that it is "sharing machine tools, semiconductors and other dual use items that have helped Russia rebuild the defense industrial base that sanctions and export controls had done so much to degrade." He added that there has not been a "direct supply" of weapons but said that the "critical supply of inputs of components" is allowing Russia to continue its aggression against Ukraine. Blinken criticized the Chinese for purporting to want friendly relations with countries in Europe and elsewhere. He said they "can't have it both ways."
