The Italian government says leaders of the Group of Seven nations will hold an online summit on Saturday, exactly two years from the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Italy said on Tuesday that the leaders will discuss support for Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to join the talks. The G7 nations are also planning to adopt a joint declaration at the meeting. The summit will be the first this year under Italy's rotating presidency of the group. Observers say the G7 is aiming to show unity in dealing with Russia amid reports that some Western countries feel donor fatigue. Japanese government sources say Prime Minister Kishida Fumio plans to express Japan's intention of continuing to support Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. Japan and Ukraine signed more than 50 cooperation documents including those for landmine removal, reviving agriculture and other areas at a conference on Ukraine's reconstruction in Tokyo on Monday. Kishida is also expected to stress the need for international momentum towards achieving lasting peace for Ukraine as soon as possible.
