A chartered plane carrying dozens of Japanese nationals and family members who have fled Sudan has touched down in Tokyo. There were 48 evacuees on board the flight, which arrived at Haneda Airport a little after 6:15 a.m. on Saturday. They were initially flown out of Sudan to nearby Djibouti. Most got there on a Japan Air Self-Defense Force plane. The Foreign Ministry says 57 Japanese nationals and eight family members have fled Sudan since fighting escalated earlier this month. There are reportedly no more Japanese in Sudan who want to evacuate. The ministry says it will continue offering support via an office in Djibouti.
