China to resume visa-free arrangement for Japan NHK

China says it will resume allowing visa-free visits by Japanese nationals on short-term trips.

China's Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the requirement for short-term visas will be waived from November 30 through the end of next year.

The Chinese government suspended the visa-free arrangement in March 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Before then, many Japanese had made short-term trips to China free of visas for tourism or business.

The Japanese government has been asking China to resume the visa waivers, responding to calls by many Japanese firms.
