Ukraine is accusing Russia of firing hypersonic missiles in its latest wave of attacks on Ukrainian cities.
Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, the southern city of Odesa, and other cities across the country with drones and missies on Thursday.
Ukraine's government says 11 people were killed and power infrastructure facilities were damaged in the offensive.
Russia's defense ministry said on Friday that "the strikes disrupted the transportation of weapons and ammunition, including those supplied by NATO countries, to combat areas."
On the same day, Ukraine's air force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat told local media that Russia fired hypersonic Kinzhal missiles in the attacks and that his country lacks defenses against the missiles.
Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, said in an interview that Russia will likely unleash major assaults by February 24. That is the day that will mark exactly one year since Moscow launched its invasion.
He says Russia remains determined to extend its control over the country's entire eastern Donbas region.
