Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio has discussed the Israel-Hamas conflict in separate meetings with the leaders of Qatar and Turkey. The talks took place Friday on the sidelines of the COP28 climate conference in the United Arab Emirates. Kishida expressed appreciation to Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani for the Arab nation's work to mediate a pause in fighting. But Kishida also lamented the resumption of military operations in Gaza. He went on to say that Japan is considering a humanitarian aid package worth about 65 million dollars. The country has already pledged 10 million dollars in emergency assistance. In his talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Kishida stressed the need for all parties to adhere to international laws and take all steps to prevent civilian casualties. The two leaders said they will work together to respond to any future developments.
