Report: Ukrainian troops cross river into Russian-held area NHK

Ukrainian troops are said to be conducting a large scale operation on the east bank of the Dnipro River in the southern region of Kherson.

They are likely to have crossed the river to the Russian occupied area in the latest counteroffensive effort.

The US-based Institute for the Study of War shared an analysis that the Ukrainian forces were conducting larger than usual operations on the east bank and established a presence in a settlement there.

British public broadcaster the BBC reported on Saturday what members of the Ukrainian troops in the front line told them.

BBC quoted the troops saying that if they successfully take a full control of the settlement, it would give them a base to launch a large offensive to divide Russian troops and cut off their supply lines.

Meanwhile Russia carried out attacks in various parts of Ukraine. Houses and schools were hit and damaged.

A Ukrainian military spokesperson told local media on Saturday that Russia introduced a new tactic, simultaneously using missiles, guided bombs and drones.

The spokesperson said that the purpose of the tactic was to maximize the attacks by stopping the Ukrainian air defense system from reacting.
Summary
