Schools in the Chinese city of Shanghai and other regions are switching back to online teaching amid a surge of coronavirus infections. Schools had been resuming in-person classes after the Chinese government eased its strict anti-infection measures on December 7. But Shanghai officials said all of the city's schools should go back online starting Monday for the well-being of their students and teachers. Junior high school and high school seniors are exceptions. Japanese schools in Shanghai already went back online last Wednesday after some children and teachers tested positive. Schools in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, are also going back online from Monday, with the exception of third-year junior high school students and second- and third-year high school students.
