Japanese weather officials say it will be hotter than usual in June across most areas of Japan. The Meteorological Agency on Tuesday released its three-month forecast for the April-June period. It says northern Japan and some other areas will tend to be covered by warm air during the period. Especially in June, the agency says temperatures will be higher than usual from northern to western Japan, with two high-pressure systems likely increasing their power. One is expected to be from the Pacific Ocean, and the other from the Tibetan Plateau. Temperatures will be normal or higher than usual in Okinawa and Amami regions in the south. The agency says the three-month average temperature will be higher than usual in northern Japan, and higher or normal in eastern and western Japan. Okinawa and Amami are expected to have normal temperatures. It forecasts normal rainfall across the country in the three-month period. The agency advises people to take measures against heatstroke, such as appropriately using air conditioners. It also calls on the public to keep updated on rainfall information, given that torrential rain has caused disasters in recent years.
