More than 30 bodies have been recovered after a commercial jet collided with a US military helicopter near Washington DC. That is according to a White House official who spoke with Fox News. Both aircraft crashed into the Potomac River. Hundreds of first responders worked in the frigid waters to look for survivors. 64 people were on the passenger jet, while the helicopter had three crew on board. Washington fire chief John Donnelly said: "We are now at a point where we are switching from a rescue operation to a recovery operation. At this point, we don't believe there are any survivors from this accident." Federal aviation officials say the accident happened as the plane was making its landing approach near Ronald Reagan National Airport Wednesday night. They say the American Airlines jet, operated by PSA Airlines, was coming in from Wichita, Kansas. The military says the helicopter was a UH-60 Black Hawk taking part in a training flight. The US national figure skating body reportedly said skaters, coaches, and family members were on the plane. They were returning home from a camp. President Donald Trump said online it was a "clear night" and the crash should have been prevented.
