The Norwegian Nobel committee has named an Iranian human rights advocate as winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. The prize went to Narges Mohammadi for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all. The selection committee says Mohammadi is a freedom fighter, whose struggle has come with tremendous personal costs. It notes that Mohammadi has been arrested 13 times by Iranian authorities. She has been sentenced to a total of 31 years behind bars, as well as 154 lashes, and remains in prison to this day. The committee also took time to recognize the hundreds of thousands of people who have protested against Iran's theocratic regime in recent years. It says their motto of "Woman, Life, Freedom" expresses Mohammadi's dedication and work.
