Russia's Defense Ministry says it has thwarted a Ukrainian missile attack on a bridge linking Crimea and Russia.
The ministry announced on Saturday that its air defense systems intercepted a surface-to-air missile that it said Ukraine used in an attempted strike on the Crimean bridge.
The ministry noted that it also thwarted 20 Ukrainian drones launched to attack facilities in the Crimean Peninsula early on Saturday.
The ministry says there were no casualties or damage in both attacks. But it has not shown any concrete evidence to verify its claim that Ukraine is responsible for the attacks.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Saturday that Russia strongly condemns the "terrorist attacks".
She said such actions "will not go unanswered", suggesting Russia could retaliate against Ukraine.
So far, the Ukrainian side has not responded, while the Russian side increased its alert level, citing the series of attacks on Crimea.
