Burnt bodies case: Footage shows victim in Tokyo night before corpse was found NHK

Investigative sources say security camera footage shows a man whose burnt body was found last Tuesday in Japan's Tochigi Prefecture had been with several people in central Tokyo the previous night.

Two burnt bodies were discovered in the town of Nasu, north of Tokyo. One was identified as that of 55-year-old Takarajima Ryutaro. The other is believed to be his wife.

Police arrested 25-year-old Hirayama Ryoken on suspicion of damaging the corpses by setting them on fire. The suspect had turned himself in to police in Tokyo. He was sent to prosecutors on Monday.

Investigative sources say the footage of Takarajima with several people was captured by a security camera in Shinagawa in central Tokyo at around 11:30 p.m. last Monday.

Takarajima and the woman who appears to be his wife are believed to have traveled from Ueno to Shinagawa in a rental car earlier that night.

Police suspect Takarajima was later forced into a vehicle at a different location. They say it was registered under Hirayama's name.

A security camera reportedly caught the vehicle near the site where the bodies were found about 3 hours later.

Hirayama reportedly told police that he only prepared the car and a gasoline canister at the request of a certain person.

Police believe more people may have been involved in the case.
