A: We made these cool New Year ornaments called hanamochi! They're like little flowers made from rice cakes. It was so fun!

B: Rice cake flowers? That sounds interesting. Where are they from?

A: From this place called Hida in Gifu Prefecture. We even used the rice we grew ourselves! Some local farmers helped us out too.

B: Wow, that's cool! Did you have any trouble making them?

A: Yeah, it was tricky to arrange the rice cakes nicely on the branches, but it was all good fun! We'll take some home and give the rest to our teachers and nearby welfare facilities.
