The US State Department said Blinken will meet Ukrainian government leaders, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. They are expected to discuss battlefield updates, the impact of new US security and economic assistance and ongoing work to bolster Ukraine's economic recovery.

US military support for Ukraine resumed last month after Congress approved a long-delayed foreign assistance package that included aid to Ukraine. The delay was attributable to disagreement between the Democratic and Republican parties.

Last week, the US government announced a 400-million-dollar military aid package that includes additional munitions for Patriot air defense systems, artillery rounds and armored vehicles.

The US government plans to accelerate the delivery of military supplies to Kyiv at a time when Russia is pressing its ground assault into Ukraine's northeastern region of Kharkiv.
