Iran stages military parade amid tensions with Israel NHK

The president of Iran has warned Israel against committing further "crimes" in the region. Masoud Pezeshkian made the comment during a speech at a massive military parade held in the capital, Tehran.

Iran stages military parades across the country every year to mark the anniversary of the outbreak of the Iran-Iraq War, which began in 1980.

Saturday's parade in Tehran featured missiles, tanks and a new type of one-way attack drone that was displayed for the first time.

The state-run television station reported that the Shahed-136B drone has an operational range of more than 4,000 kilometers.

President Pezeshkian said in his speech that, if there is unity, Israel will not be able to carry out "crimes" in the region.

Iran has not dropped its pledge to avenge Israel's assassination of a top Hamas leader in Tehran in July.

Iran also blames Israel for the recent mass explosions in Lebanon that involved hand-held communications devices.

Tehran has hinted that militant groups across the Middle East could participate in Iran-backed Hezbollah's retaliatory attacks against Israel.
