Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru plans to use his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump to avoid economic tensions and build cooperative ties for the national interests of both countries.
                
Their first summit will take place in Washington on Friday. It will come at a time when Japanese government officials are concerned whether Trump intends to widen the scope of targets for his tariff policy.

Ishiba plans to explain to Trump that Japan has been helping create jobs in the US as it has been the top investor in the country for five consecutive years in terms of outstanding investment value.
                
The leaders are also expected to discuss how to achieve stable imports and exports of energy resources.
                
Their agenda is also expected to include a planned buyout of US Steel by Japan&#039;s Nippon Steel.
                
Former President Joe Biden issued an order to block it, citing national security concerns.
                
Ishiba will meet SoftBank Group CEO Son Masayoshi and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Monday as part of his preparation for the summit.
                
SoftBank Group is a Japanese tech giant. OpenAI is the developer of the artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT.
                
Last month, Trump announced the launch of a joint venture that involves SoftBank, OpenAI and IT giant Oracle. Stargate would invest 500 billion dollars to build AI infrastructure in the US.
