The Louvre Museum and other sites in France were evacuated on Saturday after receiving bomb threats. Visitors to the popular museum in central Paris were advised by staff to evacuate for security reasons, amid heightened vigilance in the country against possible terrorist attacks. The AFP news agency and other media outlets quoted a museum spokesperson as saying that it had "received a written message stating that there was a risk to the museum and its visitors." Police reportedly searched the museum, but found no explosives. Footage shows a large number of tourists evacuating as alarms sounded inside the museum, and police officers stood guard outside the facility. Also on Saturday, people were forced to evacuate after bomb threats were sent to the Palace of Versailles, near Paris, and a major train station in the capital. Police are investigating possible links between the incidents. This series of events come after a teacher was fatally stabbed at a high school in northern France on Friday by a Muslim man who graduated from the school. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin suggested that the knife attack bore a link to events in the Middle East, where fighting has intensified between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
