- All remaining Lotteria fast-food restaurants in Japan will close by March 31, 2026.
- The restaurants are being rebranded as Zetteria, owned by Zensho, after they acquired Lotte Holdings' stake.
- This change only affects Japan; Lotteria restaurants outside of Japan remain unaffected and are still operated by Lotte Group.

A: Did you hear about Lotteria? It’s disappearing!
B: No way! Lotteria? Really? I love their shrimp burger!
A: Yeah, all the Lotteria restaurants in Japan will be gone by March! It’s kind of sad.
B: Wow, that's a long time! I remember going there as a kid. When did this happen?
A: It started a while ago, but now it’s really happening. They’re being replaced by something called Zetteria.
B: Zetteria? Never heard of it. What's that about?
A: It’s basically the same, but Zensho bought Lotteria from Lotte. They also own Sukiya and Japan’s version of Big Boy.
B: Oh, I know Sukiya! So, the menu will be similar?
A: Pretty much! They’ll still have Zeppin burgers, but maybe a little different looking. They even had the Okonomiyaki burger at Zetteria too!
B: So, people are confused, right? Because it’s the same but different?
A: Exactly! People online were saying they thought they were just knock-offs.
B: Makes sense. Will the shrimp burger still be there?!
A: That's what everyone's hoping for! Some people are complaining about the old Zeppin cheeseburgers being too small.
B: Haha! Some people are just always complaining! But good news, Zetteria often has Uber Eats discounts!
A: True! And hey, this doesn't affect Lotterias outside of Japan. They’re still going strong. They even opened one in America last year!
B: Really? That’s cool! So, it’s a big change for Japan then. Hopefully, Zetteria is good!
A: Yeah, let’s hope so!
