Local media in Myanmar are reporting that at least 100 people have been killed in airstrikes carried out by the military. The reports say the junta's aircraft struck a village in the northwestern region of Sagaing several times on Tuesday. They say people in the village were holding a ceremony for the launch of an office for the pro-democracy National Unity Government at the time of the attack. The casualties reportedly include women and children. A spokesperson for the junta told NHK that he has no knowledge of any airstrikes. Myanmar's top general Min Aung Hlaing calls members of pro-democracy groups "terrorists." The junta this month intensified bombing in Karen state in Myanmar's southeast. Authorities in neighboring Thailand say the escalation has forced about 8,000 people to evacuate across the border.
