US President-elect Donald Trump has met Argentine President Javier Milei in Florida. The AP news agency says Milei is the first foreign leader to meet with the president-elect since Trump's victory in last week's election.

Milei, known for his eccentric personality, is sometimes called the "Trump of Argentina." On Thursday he posted on social media a photo taken with the president-elect.

Argentine media say the two met on the sidelines of an event held by a conservative think tank in Florida. But the details of the meeting are not yet known.

Milei reportedly congratulated Trump, saying his political comeback was "a demonstration that the forces of heaven are on our side."

Trump described Milei as a person who can "Make Argentina Great Again."

After winning the presidential race, Trump has spoken with a number of world leaders by phone.
