Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa has unveiled three key concepts designed to deepen relations with Arab nations.
Hayashi announced them at the third Japan-Arab Political Dialogue in Egypt on Tuesday. The foreign ministers from the 22 Arab League members took part.
The concepts are "collaboration for prosperity" aimed at boosting economic ties, "establishment of peace" and "maintaining and strengthening a rules-based free and open international order."
He said in a speech that Japan and the Arab world need to change the way they work together because uneasiness surrounds the international community and great dynamism is being born in the Middle East.
He added that Japan also plans to provide support to ensure safe navigation on the Suez Canal and continue anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia as part of efforts to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Later on Tuesday, Hayashi told a joint news conference that participants expressed their expectations and gave various proposals for deepening cooperation.
He said Japan wants to build more comprehensive and multi-layered relations with Arab nations.
