Indonesian authorities have ended search and rescue operations for the Mount Marapi volcanic eruption, saying that all 23 people who were killed have been found. Authorities on Thursday said that the climbers who lost their lives were located and taken to hospitals to be identified. 75 people were registered to hike Mount Marapi on Sunday when it began spewing grey ash into the sky. The eruption was followed by smaller ones that continued for days, hampering evacuations and rescue operations. The volcano has been at the country's third highest alert level since 2011, which is supposed to keep people at least 3 kilometers from the crater. But local authorities left the climbing route open, which resulted in the volcano's deadliest eruption since 1979. Marapi is among more than 100 active volcanos in Indonesia, which sits in the so-called "Ring of Fire."
