Scam centers are thriving in Myanmar after years of turmoil, and leaders in neighboring Thailand are taking action. They've stopped supplying electricity on Wednesday to some areas over the border. Officials say they're targeting five areas believed to be rife with fraudsters who extort money from people online and by phone. The officials say they've also severed the internet connection, and stopped supplying fuel. Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is visiting Beijing on Wednesday for high-level talks, and the scam centers will likely be on her agenda. Some have tricked foreigners into engaging in their activities. Thai police rescued a missing Chinese actor near the border with Myanmar in January. Wang Xing claims he was forced to train as a scammer. A Thai human rights group says there could be more than 6,000 foreigners being held captive in Myanmar.
