A Japanese man suspected of luring a high school student out of Japan to work for scam operations in Myanmar has been deported from Thailand. The man is alleged to have convinced a Japanese high school student he came to know through an online game to come to Thailand in January before taking the student to a scam center in eastern Myanmar. The 29-year-old suspect's visa for Thailand was revoked and he had been in Thai police custody since February. He also faces an arrest warrant from Japanese police over a different case. The man was escorted to an airport near the Thai capital, Bangkok, on Monday night, where he was handed to Japanese police officers. Their flight departed early on Tuesday for Kansai International Airport in Osaka. In an interview with NHK, a Thai police official said the suspect used the nickname "Gen" when working for a Chinese group. The official said his role was to lure people to work in Myanmar, and that he may have taken some people to Cambodia as well.
