A Japanese town at the foot of Mount Fuji is setting up a screen to block the view of the famous landmark at a popular photo spot near a convenience store. Local officials say they are taking the measure to address problems that are caused by a large number of people flocking there. Mount Fuji can be seen just above the convenience store in the town of Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture, attracting many overseas tourists and others. Town officials say the spot has been drawing crowds since photos taken there made a buzz on social media. The officials say some people cross the busy road in front of the convenience store and enter private property without permission to take photos. They add they have received complaints from local residents. The town started taking measures last year. It has set up a signboard calling on people to be careful in several languages, and has deployed security guards. But the officials say problems have continued. They say they will install a black screen to block the view and put in fences to prevent people from crossing the road. They say the construction work on the screen -- 20 meters long and 2.5 meters high -- is expected to finish around mid-May. The officials say the measure is needed as dangerous and problematic acts by visitors have been recurring. They also say they hope tourists will visit other locations.
