Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on the international community to immediately stop Israel from carrying out air strikes in Lebanon.
                
Pezeshkian addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. Observers are waiting to see how Iran will react to Israel&#039;s attacks in Lebanon. This comes as the number of civilian casualties continues to rise.
                
Israel continued to conduct airstrikes against the Iran-backed Shia Muslim group Hezbollah across Lebanon on Tuesday.
                
Lebanon&#039;s health ministry said 558 people have been killed in the attacks since Monday.
                
Pezeshkian said the international community must work to immediately stop the violence. He also said that the community needs to bring about a permanent ceasefire as soon as possible and stop Israel&#039;s brutality before Israel sets the region and the world on fire.
                
Pezeshkian said Israel&#039;s attacks, which have killed innocent people, cannot go unanswered.
                
He said the responsibility for the consequences lies with the governments that are against international efforts to end the tragedy. But he did not provide details regarding how Iran intends to respond.
                
Pezeshkian also said in his speech that Iran is ready to work with the relevant countries to revive a 2015 deal, which was aimed at curbing Tehran&#039;s nuclear activities.
                
Pezeshkian has been calling for dialogues with the United States and European countries. Observers say the aim of his remarks was to show that Iran can be accommodating, when it comes to foreign policy.
