Japanese weather officials have forecast another day of extreme heat from the Kanto-Koshin region to the Kyushu region on Friday.
        
                    
                  
They also expect temperatures to soar close to a life-threatening 40 degrees Celsius from the Kanto-Koshin region through the Kinki region on Saturday and Sunday.
        
                    
                  
By 1:00 p.m. on Friday, temperatures had already risen above 36 degrees in some areas. The mercury had reached 36.8 degrees in Tokushima Prefecture&#039;s Mima City, 36.3 degrees in Aichi Prefecture&#039;s Toyota City, and 36 degrees in Hyogo Prefecture&#039;s Toyooka City.
        
                    
                  
Weather officials forecast daytime highs of 37 degrees in Takamatsu City, 36 degrees for the cities of Nagoya, Osaka and Yamaguchi, and 35 degrees in locations including central Tokyo and the cities of Toyama, Kochi and Fukuoka.
        
                    
                  
Weather authorities have issued heatstroke alerts for 22 of the country&#039;s 47 prefectures from the Kanto region to the Kyushu region.
        
                    
                  
Officials say temperatures are likely to rise even further from Saturday onwards.
        
                    
                  
They are forecasting daytime highs of 40 degrees in Saitama Prefecture&#039;s Kumagaya City, 39 degrees in the cities of Nagoya, Maebashi and Kofu, and 38 degrees in central Tokyo and Kyoto City, on Saturday.
