US President Joe Biden departed for Israel on Tuesday, but he has postponed a visit to Jordan. The schedule change comes in the wake of a blast that occurred at a hospital in the Gaza Strip.
                
Biden is going to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He wants to demonstrate US support for Israel, amid the ongoing fighting between Israel&#039;s forces and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.
                
The US president had planned to travel from Israel to Amman to meet with Jordan&#039;s King Abdullah, Egypt&#039;s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. They had planned to discuss humanitarian aid for Gaza.
                
But Biden reportedly decided to postpone the visit after Abbas announced that a mourning period will be observed for the victims of the deadly blast at the hospital in the Gaza Strip.
                
Hamas says at least 500 people were killed in the blast.
                
The White House said that Biden sent his deepest condolences for the innocent lives lost in the hospital explosion in Gaza.
