Japan's parliamentary vice-minister of education and culture has offered to resign over a report on an extramarital affair. Yamada Taro submitted his resignation to the education and culture minister after Bunshun Online published the report on Wednesday. Yamada has been elected to the Upper House twice through proportional representation. The 56-year-old stood in the 2010 Upper House election for then-Your Party after serving as president of a consulting company. He won in the 2019 election for the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. Yamada is known as an expert on manga and anime. He took up the post of the parliamentary vice-minister of education and culture in a cabinet reshuffle in September.
