Elon Musk, the owner of X, previously known as Twitter, has indicated that the social networking platform's block function will be dropped. Some users have voiced concerns, as the function protects users from accounts that contain libelous, defamatory or discriminatory posts. On Friday, Musk posted on his X account that block is going to be deleted as a "feature, except for DMs," or direct messages. X CEO Linda Yaccarino said on her X account that users' safety on X is the firm's number one priority. She went on to say that X is building "something better than the current state of block." Musk said he acquired Twitter to protect freedom of speech. But his latest move, if implemented, could prompt more users to stop using X.
