South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has visited a shipyard in the United States to underscore his country&#039;s efforts to boost bilateral ties in the shipbuilding sector.
        
                    
                  
Lee toured the shipyard in the state of Pennsylvania on Tuesday. It was acquired by a South Korean company in December last year. The country has a competitive edge in shipbuilding.
        
                    
                  
To coincide with his visit, a christening ceremony was held for the first ship to be completed since the acquisition.
        
                    
                  
Lee said South Korea&#039;s shipbuilding industry will take on a new challenge to help strengthen US maritime security and rejuvenate the American shipbuilding sector.
        
                    
                  
When South Korea reached a trade agreement with the US last month, it announced that it will earmark 150 billion dollars to boost cooperation with the country in shipbuilding.
        
                    
                  
During Monday&#039;s summit in Washington, Lee and US President Donald Trump confirmed the cooperation.
