Trump mulling appointees for his upcoming administration NHK

US President-elect Donald Trump has ruled out two senior members of his former Cabinet for positions in his upcoming administration.

In a social media post on Saturday, Trump wrote, "I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation."

Haley had battled Trump for the Republican Party presidential nomination.

This is Trump's first comment on his Cabinet lineups after he named his campaign manager Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff earlier this week.

The president-elect is believed to be considering candidates for his Cabinet with campaign executives at his home in the southern US state of Florida.

US media are speculating every day on who might be in and who could be out for the next Trump administration.

Trump is to meet outgoing US President Joe Biden at the White House next Wednesday as part of customary procedures for transition of the government.
The White House made the announcement on Saturday. It will be the first time the two men meet face to face since their televised debate in June, which led Biden to drop out of the race.
