The Ukrainian military has announced it attacked two bridges connecting Crimea and Kherson Oblast, both occupied by Russia.
Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed leader of Kherson, posted photos on social media showing the damage to one of the bridges.
He claimed it was caused by a Storm Shadow missile provided by the West.
He also claimed the Ukrainian shelling damaged a gas pipeline running alongside the other bridge.
The Institute for the Study of War, a US-based think tank, released an assessment on Sunday saying the attack caused Russian forces to redirect road traffic along longer routes.
It notes this will likely pose significant disruptions to logistics and possibly cause delays and traffic jams.
The assessment says, "Ukrainian strikes on bridges are a part of the Ukrainian interdiction campaign focused on setting conditions for future decisive counteroffensive operations."
