A: Hey there! Did you see the news about that video shared by Senate Republicans?

B: Nah, what's going on?

A: They posted a deepfake of Chuck Schumer, making it look like he's celebrating the government shutdown. But in reality, he was talking about healthcare and stuff.

B: Wow, that sounds tricky! Where did they post this video?

A: It was on their X account, but it seems their platform allows deepfakes like these if they have a warning or something. They haven't done anything yet though.

B: That doesn't sound right at all... I wonder why they didn't remove it or add a warning.

A: Right? And this isn't the first time something like this has happened on their platform. Remember that video of former Vice President Harris last year?

B: Oh yeah! That was around election time, right?

A: Exactly! Anyway, there are laws in some states about deepfakes during campaigns and elections, but they don't always work out. Some states ban them entirely if there's no disclosure, while others just require clear labels.

B: That doesn't seem like enough protection... It seems like they can get away with anything!

A: Yeah, it does. Just reminds us to be careful about what we believe online, right? They even posted deepfakes of Schumer and Jeffries recently.
