Google gives public access to Bard chatbox on trial basis NHK

Google has made its Bard chatbot available to the public in the United States and UK on a trial basis to help improve its performance.

The US tech giant said on Tuesday people can join a waiting list for access to Bard through its website. It plans to gradually expand availability to other countries.

Google hopes to get more feedback by increasing the number of users, and use that to improve its AI performance.

The chatbot provides answers with natural sentences, when users enter questions. But the company warned that AI sometimes provides inaccurate, misleading or false information.

Competition in developing AI-based chatbot technology has been intensifying as users of Microsoft-backed ChatGPT are increasing sharply. Facebook parent, Meta, and Chinese IT giant Baidu are also strengthening development in the field.
